New cars and new colours for Blanchet Motorsports

Febraury 10, 2017, Mississauga, ON  –   2017 brings significant change for Blanchet Motorsports. Team owner Frank Blanchet announces his entry of a freshly built Toyota GT86 to compete in the GTS (formerly GT) class of the Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Pirelli. “I have always liked this car since it debuted as the Scion FR-S” notes Frank. “It is known to have great handling ability even in stock trim and the low stance and light weight chassis make it a great platform to base our GTS Class Touring Car.” This follows the end of a two year commitment with Hyundai Canada and partnership with Attrell Racing in which the Team achieved 2nd and 3rd respectively in the GT Class by the year end Championship.

Dawning the familiar –PRESTONE– yellow on our Toyota GT86 we feel like we will stand out and garner much attention, something we have always done hear at Blanchet Motorsports to maximize sponsorship return.” Stratis Katsiris of Kik Corporation is excited to be part of the program and also looks forward to a long term relationship with the Team.

Perennial Blanchet Driver Damon Sharpe – will be at the helm the #84 Toyota GT86. “I can’t wait to drive this car” says Sharpe. “Along with Frank, I have always liked this car since it came out a few years ago. It looks to be a great package and I know the boys at the shop have been working hard on it. They want to win just as bad as I do and are equally excited about this announcement. Having a notable sponsor like –PRESTONE– pumps me up and I want to do a good job for them as well.”

In other announcements, shop operations have moved 2 hours East of Toronto to take advantage of key Team Members David Deem and Scott Sharp. Their accessibility will ensure a more hands on approach and is central to the venues that CTCC participates at over the season. The GTA area Tuning shop –NEETRONICS-owned by James Brown and Andy Ng will be a key player with technical and trackside support along with development of the Toyota 86. An exciting new partnership forged.

Blanchet Motorsports has been racing since 1993 and will be celebrating the teams 25th Anniversary in racing. The team raced in all levels of Karting and F1600 Open wheel cars before moving into Sedan racing in 2005, winning numerous races as well as a CASC Class and Overall Champion with Frank Blanchet behind the wheel. The team joined the new Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship in 2007, now known as CTCC. Blanchet Motorsports has been a part of the Touring Car championship ever since.
