Team Octane announces Groenke behind the wheel of their new B-Spec MINI Cooper
(Montréal, Québec, Canada) – Twice Canadian Touring Car champions -Team Octane - announced today that they are expanding and will participate in the new B-Spec Class, fielding a new MINI Cooper in the Canadian Touring Car Championship.
“We have been competing with MINI products for the last 6 years. It was natural for us to join the B-Spec Class as we think MINI’s very sturdy chassis, go-kart-like handling and phenomenal brakes will prove to be attributes that will make the MINI Cooper a championship contender in the new B-Spec Class” commented Team Principal Alain Lauzière.
The team also announced that rising-star P.J. Groenke was recruited to drive the first-ever team’s B-Spec car, for the 2012 season. “I am ecstatic to represent Team Octane this season” stated Groenke. “I had the honour of racing for the team briefly in 2010 and won my first race in the Canadian Touring Car Championship driving their MINI Cooper S JCW. I cannot wait for the 2012 season to begin”.
“P.J. has proven that he has the raw speed to compete for wins. We are hopeful that our team environment and the equipment we provide will keep him atop the championship charts throughout the year” commented Lauzière.
Sponsorship for the B-Spec effort will come from MINI GENUINE PARTS, Castrol and will feature Tundra and Verax.ca. Team partners also include Carrosserie Touchette and La Clinique du Pneu Granby.
Team Octane will make further announcements before the beginning of the season about their other team-cars and drivers.
The 2012 season of the Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental tire will start on May 19-20 at Mosport International Raceway in Ontario for the Victoria Day Speedfest. The Championship competes throughout 8 weekends of racing.

L’équipe Octane annonce Groenke au volant de leur nouvelle MINI Cooper B-Spec
(Montréal, Québec, Canada) – L’équipe Octane – deux fois championne du Championnat de Tourisme Canadien - est fière d’annoncer aujourd’hui son expansion, avec une participation dans la nouvelle catégorie B-Spec. L’équipe participera au Championnat de Tourisme Canadien avec une nouvelle MINI Cooper.
«Nous représentons la marque MINI en piste depuis maintenant 6 ans et utiliser une MINI Cooper en B-Spec représente une extension naturelle de nos activités» commenta le propriétaire de l’équipe, Alain Lauzière. «Le châssis robuste de la MINI, sa tenue de route typique à un go-kart et ses freins phénoménaux sont tous des attributs nous permettant de croire que la MINI Cooper possède les atouts nécessaires pour être aux avant-postes de sa classe».
L’équipe annonce aussi que l’étoile-montante P.J. Groenke a été recruté pour piloter la toute première B-Spec de l’équipe pour la saison 2012. «Je suis très fier de représenter l’Équipe Octane cette année. J’ai eu l’honneur de conduire brièvement pour eux en 2010 et j’ai remporté ma première course en Championnat de Tourisme Canadien au volant d’une de leur MINI Cooper S JCW. Je suis impatient de voir la saison débuter!»
«P.J. a déjà prouvé qu’il avait la vitesse naturelle pour visiter le podium. Nous espérons que l’équipement que nous lui fournirons et l’environnement de notre équipe lui permettra de rester aux avant-postes du championnat durant toute la saison» commenta Lauzière.

L’Équipe Octane effectuera d’importantes annonces avant le début de la saison au sujet de ses autres pilotes et voitures.
La saison 2012 du Championnat de Tourisme Canadien présentée par Continental débutera le 19-20 Mai à Mosport en Ontario lors du “Victoria Day Speedfest”. Le championnat comprend 8 fins de semaine de compétition.
