April 18, 2011 Ottawa, Ontario – With the CCTCC season just days away, Alex Healy Racing unveiled its new look for the 2011 season in front of a packed house of friends, supporters and sponsors.
“This is our ‘Made in Ottawa-Gatineau’ team,” said principal and driver Alex Healy. “The guys at AE Campeau have been working tirelessly to get the car race-ready, and all our local suppliers, from body work to paint to design to wrappers, are from my home town. I am very proud of them.”
Based on Healy’s design, the new look has three main goals: to be easily identified by spectators at the track; to emphasize the sponsor’s brand; and to look good in a magazine photo layout.
Jeff Louis-Seize and JF Campeau of AE Campeau have been working all winter on improving the car to make it as competitive as possible for 2011.
“It’s nice to be good-looking, for sure,” said Jeff, “but as his power train team, we just want him to be fast. We want to win every single time we go out.”
The event took place at nearby Top Karting in Gatineau, Quebec, a competitive indoor go kart facility where there are several indoor winter race leagues.
“We wanted to have a fun night of racing with our friends,” said Alex. “That’s the best way to say thank you.”
Alex was recently crowned, for the fourth year in a row, the 2011 Winter Indoor Karting Champion for the annual NCKC (National Capital Kart Club) series.
Dave Muir, President of GasTOPS, was on hand to wish the team every success in 2011.
“As an engineering firm based in Ottawa who competes globally, we know how much hard work it takes to be successful,” he said. “We are proud of Alex and his team and we love the new look. I know we are going to see him reach the top step of the podium this year and work hard to win the championship.”
Tyler Givogue, Alex’s Crew Chief in 2009, is back to lead the team for 2011.
“I am so thrilled to be back working with Alex and the new members of the team,” he said. “We have the experience, the car and the driver to go all the way. “
Alex Healy and team will be at both CCTCC testing events prior to the opening round of races on May 21 to ensure a good setup.
