Racing History:
Ryan started racing in 1997 at the age of seven. He watched his Uncle's racing the past couple of years, and was thrilled when he got his chance.  He got his first win at the end of the first season; he should have had many more but would spin in the last corner on the last lap, after leading every lap of every feature, at the Mosport Development Track.  The next three season's Ryan would race at the Sutton with the Simcoe Kart Club (S.K.C.), setting one of the track records, and won over half the races in those three season's. In 1999 Ryan won the Grand Nationals at Shannonville Motor Park, but was disqualified in post race inspection for having fuel with to high of an octane.  Most people said he would have won regardless but that handed the race over to rival Chris Biggar.  He had a rival every year and if there was a a championship for Cadet he would have tied with Chris Biggar for 1st in his last season in that class.  The next couple of years would be very hard in Jr. Lite and Jr. Heavy only winning one or two races in each season.
Ryan then got into the more difficult classes of racing Jr. and Sr. Rotax over the next three years winning just one race and finishing 4th in points in 2005 and 5th in 2006 at Goodwood Kartways with the Toronto Kart Club.  2006 was the first year where Ryan did not win a race. In Enduro Kart races Ryan is a 4-time runner-up in 5 races.

In 2007 Ryan took somewhat of a year off after deciding in 2006 to start racing cars like his Dad (Frank Blanchet).  That year he helped his brother get more familiar with the Rotax for karting and crewed for his Dad's car.  They had a very successful year with the car and had an exceptional weekend on the streets of Mississauga with the Rotax. Ryan did a couple of test days in the car to start preparing himself for the 2008 season in a 2001 Nissan Sentra.

In 2008 Ryan started to race again, but this time in a 2001 Nissan Sentra.  Ryan got his first podium at Mosport in the pouring rain after losing the lead on the second last lap, on Canada Day Weekend.  He lead most of the season in points, but with some late season problems 2nd and 3rd caught up to compete for the championship in the last three races.  All three drivers still had a chance of winning the championship coming into the last weekend.  Ryan ended up finishing 3rd in his first Ontario GT Regional Sprint Championship season.  Ryan finished the season with four podiums, and was announced BARC's Best New Driver winning the Bob Attrell Award. This season Ryan enters the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship at age 19.
