1. What is the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship Presented By Toyo Tires?
The Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship Presented By Toyo Tires is Canada’s Premiere Touring Car Championship. It features Canada’s Best Drivers Racing Today’s Hottest Touring Cars. The racecars are production based and compete in two unique Classes.
Touring Class is for entry level touring cars with minimal modifications while Super Touring Class is for heavily modified touring cars. Some popular brands include Acura, BMW, Dodge, Honda, Hyundai, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Saab, Subaru and VW. The Championship is sanctioned by ASN Canada FIA.
2. Where are the races?
The Championship races at some of the best tracks in Canada. The season opens May 22/23 at Mosport International Raceway in Ontario. The Championship returns to Mosport on June 12/13 and August 27/28/29. The Championship will visit Circuit ICAR at Mirabel in Quebec on July 3/4 and then on September 11/12. The Championship will race at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres in Quebec on August 13/14/15. The full schedule is available on the website. www.touringcar.ca.
3. How can I race in the Championship?
All drivers must is licensed by ASN Canada FIA to be eligible to compete in the Championship. Please visit the ASN Canada FIA website for the appropriate application forms. www.asncanada.com.
4. Is my racecar eligible for competition?
All racecars must conform to the Regulations of the Championship and of the sanctioning body, ASN Canada FIA. The Regulations are available on the website. In general, the maximum allowed whp rating is 300 and racecars cannot be any older than ten years past the model cutoff date. Eligible vehicle models are listed in the Regulations. Application may be made to the Championship for models not currently listed in the Regulations.
5. How do I register for the Championship?
The Championship Registration Forms are available on the website under Competitor Info. Please complete all of the Forms and return them to the Championship office along with your Registration Fee by April 30, 2010 to avoid a late fee.
6. How do I get the Championship decals and patches?
The Championship decals and patches will be sent out beginning in April to all registered competitors. The Championship decal layout for racecars is available on the website. The Championship patch layout for drivers’ suits and crew uniforms is available on the website too.
7. What kind of tires is used in the Championship?
All racecars must race on Toyo R Compound tires. The specified tire for the Championship is the Toyo Proxes R888. The standard tire size for Super Touring Class is 235/40R17 and the standard tire size for Touring Class is 205/50R15 and 205/40R17. The R888 may be shaved or grooved for competition. Competitors must purchase their tires at Canadian Toyo R-Group dealers; locations are available at the Team Toyo website. www.teamtoyo.ca Registered competitors are eligible for discounts of 40% off suggested list price.
